We’re pleased to announce episode 19 of our “Life After Trek” podcast, the Geek Nation Tours Special, featuring Larry Nemecek & Teras Cassiday. Born from a meeting at Vegas Khhaaan! 2011, Larry & Teras have partnered to offer a tour just prior to, and including, Vegas. In this tour Larry will guide the group around tons of Star Trek related sites located in Southern California. Some of the sites they will be visiting are the gardens used as Starfleet Academy, Paramount Studios, the site of the Kirk vs. Gorn battle (with a visit from the “Gorn himself”, Bobby Clark), and many many more. Check out the Geek Nation Tours website for more info.

Not only do we discuss the new tour in-daepth, but we also got the chance to talk about early fandom experiences for Larry & Teras, upcoming convention appearances, Con of Wrath, & as always, general Trek geekery. We had a great time visiting both of these awesome guys in this episode and think that you’ll enjoy it too. Check out the download links below.

We’re pleased to announce episode 18 of our “Life After Trek” podcast, the "R U R" Special, featuring Chase Masterson & James Kerwin. Chase & James sit down with us to talk about their new film project R.U.R. & the crowd sourced "spin-off" short R.U.R.: Genesis. A play written by Karel Capek in 1919 — and decades ahead of its time – R.U.R. is a sharp commentary on progress, politics, and relationships, accurately predicting advances in biotechnology and setting the tone for future science fiction masterpieces like Metropolis and Blade Runner. In this retro-futuristic adaptation of the classic play (co-written & directed by James & starring Chase) R.U.R. depicts a world populated by genetically engineered workers ("artificials") — perfect, made-to-order humans who lack fundamental rights. We’ve loved Yesterday Was a Lie and are really looking forward to the release of this project.

In the meantime, R.U.R: Genesis is a "spin-off" short film that Chase & James are on the cusp of making and need your help to complete. Much like many other indie productions, Genesis is looking for funding from the fan community. There are several contribution levels, including one that guarentees you a walk on role. On top of that, your donations are tax deductable. If you would like to help this production get off the ground, you can contribute on the R.U.R. Indiegogo page here.

We’re pleased to announce the fifteenth episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring John Billingsley. We would like to thank the folks from Starbase Indy for hooking us up with John’s interview. Many of you remember that we covered the Starbase Indy convention last year and that we had a blast meeting all of the lovely Trek fans of Indianapolis. In this episode we talk in depth about John’s long career in Hollywood as well as some inside baseball topics about business they call show. Of course, we also talk about John’s tenure aboard the NX-01 as the venerable Dr. Phlox.

John has several appearance coming up including Starbase Indy (mentioned earlier), a Star Trek cruise with fellow Trek stars Garrett Wang and Denise Crosby, and he was just added to the roster of Creation’s Vegas convention 2012. We would like to thank the folks from Starbase Indy for hooking us up with John's interview.
We’re pleased to announce the eleventh episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Max Grodenchik. What’s exciting about this episode is of course Max’s interview, but this completes our House of Nog set with the show stopper Grand Nagus Nog! Be sure to check out the other House of Nog interview with Chase Masterson & Aron Eisenberg. We had the pleasure of hanging out with Max at BayouCon this year and he was kind enough to spend some quality time with us discussing not only his role on “Deep Space Nine”, but also his time on TNG and his early years in acting.

Max has several appearances coming up including the Creation Entertainment Boston & Nashville Conventions where he will be joining Vaughn Armstrong, Ethan Phillips, Jeffrey Combs, & Casey biggs in the fabled “Rat Pack” comedy show. We’ve seen both Max & Vaughn live and can only imagine the fantastic insanity that will ensue with that cast of characters. Vaughn & the gang (including Armin Shimmerman) will also be performing at Vegas Khhaaan! 2011, you can get more info here.

We had a blast at BayouCon this year and as an added bonus, you can check out an excerpt from Max’s BayouCon panel below. Here he describes working with his cosmetic Ferengi teeth on DS9.

We’re pleased to announce the eighth episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Aron Eisenberg. As you all know, Aron played Nog, the youngest of the Ferengi family, on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Even though he wasn’t a “regular” (Aron corrected us about that during the podcast), Nog was such a presence that he enhanced the entire feel for the series. Being HUGE DS9 fans, we were totally stoked to spend time talking to Aron about his current projects and his life after Trek.

During the podcast he talked about his time on DS9, his videography business, his career/life strategies, and he even filled us in on his inspiration for his role in “It’s Only A Paper Moon” (the episode we, personally, find ourselves returning to over and over again whenever we’re feeling a bit down).

It was a true pleasure to talk with Aron! Man…he’s got it so together that he even inspired us to do a little more planning with our own future (and we mean, beyond which Trek episodes to watch tonight). This is a fantastic talk that we’re sure you’re going to enjoy. Now…hit that download button! What are you waiting for?!?!

Be sure to check out his videography business, Reel Life Pictures, here. Their work is gorgeous!p>

We’re pleased to announce the seventh episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Tony Todd. If you have a pulse and breathe oxygen, then you're probably familiar with Tony's work. He's been in over 90+ films including Platoon, The Crow, The Rock, The Candyman Series, Final Destination, & Transformers: The Fallen. He's also been in numerous television series including 3 of the 5 Star Trek Series in existence.

Tony is probably best know in the Trek Universe as Worf's brother Kurn who made his first appearance in Star Trek: The Next Generation and then on to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Tony also played an Alpha Hirogen in Star Trek: Voyager. This interview was extremely special to us because of his work in the DS9 episode "The Visitor". Which we consider it to be the best episode of Television…ever.

The interview runs almost 40 mins and is packed full of Tony Todd / Trek awesomeness. We start off discussing Tony's beginning on the New York stages of Broadway all the way through Trek and on to his current roles including his time behind the camera as a writer and director. If this is your first jump in to "Life After Trek", you're in for a fantastic ride. Even if you've listened to all of our episodes, you'll still thoroughly enjoy this. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Also, if you're in the Houston, Texas area, be sure to come see Tony at the upcoming Comicpalooza Convention in May.

We’re pleased to announce the sixth episode of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Natalija Nogulich. Since you are reading this here, I’m sure you all know Natalija for her character of Admiral Nechayev on Star Trek the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. Her strong and heartfelt portrayal of this memorable character has endeared her to Trek fans everywhere, but did you know that she is also an author? In our interview we here all about her new book called “One Woman’s War” tentatively set to be out in the spring of 2011, as well as her current endeavors and her thoughts on the Admiral.

It seems that Natalija is always working on a project, whether it is acting on stage, writing, or volunteering, she is determined to be constructive and creative. One of the charities that Natalija works with is Trek to the Troops. Here, she contributes by visiting troops and sending them care packages. She even sends hats that she personally knits for them. You can see a video below of Natalija in her apartment talking about what goes into some of the packages they send.

We had a great time talking with Natalija and we’re sure you’ll enjoy listening as she talks about her recent goings-on and her experiences on set as Admiral Nechayev.

Be sure to visit Natalija's official website can be found here.

We’re pleased to announce the fifth episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring Walter Koenig. Walter is our very first interview with an Original Series actor and we’re super pleased to have him on the show. As you may know, we live blogged from the floor of Austin Comic-con and that’s where we recorded the interview with Walter. We would like to give a big thanks to WizardWorld for having a fantastic convention and giving us access to get such a fantastic interview. If there’s a WizardWorld Comic-con anywhere near you, be sure to stop by. You won’t be disappointed.

We’re pleased to announce the fourth episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring Chase Masterson & James Kerwin. As you all know, Chase played Leeta on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and is an accomplished singer, feature film producer & actor. Her most recent role is that of the “Jazz Singer” in the film noir science fiction thriller “Yesterday Was a Lie”. In this special episode of “Life After Trek”, we talk in depth with “Yesterday Was a Lie” writer / director James Kerwin about the new film and then finish out the episode with a insightful discussion with Chase about her time on DS9.

We’re pleased to announce the third episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring none other than Jeffrey Combs. Many of you know Jeffrey from his many and varied characters on Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, & Voyager. He’s one of our absolute favorite actors worthy of his own Trek series, where in our minds, he plays every single character. We had the pleasure of spending time with Jeffrey while he was here in Austin during Fantastic Fest. He and “Re-animator” director Stuart Gordon were in town for showings of many of the films that they have collaborated on over the years. Jeffrey was also here to preform his one man show “Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe”. We had the opportunity to catch a showing of “Nevermore” and can truly say that it was a breathtaking experience.

L.A. Weekly had this to say about “Nevermore”; “GO- a gorgeous rendition of a tragic clown whose heart has been cleaved open by loss and regret… beautifully directed by Stuart Gordon” and Metromix reviewed as “… a must see for anyone interested in tales of horror and the supernatural.” Set in 1848, Nevermore, written by Dennis Paoli, is loosely based on real events and lets us sit in on one of Poe’s recitations that he would’ve given during one of his many speaking engagements. Through Jeffrey Combs’s performance we see the humanity in Poe, as well as his deep capacity for love and a “hint” of madness.

If you would like the opportunity to see “Nevermore”, you can catch a showing at Creation Entertainment’s “Weekend of Horrors” con coming soon. Check out more information below.

We’re pleased to announce the second episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring none other than Larry Nemecek. Larry spent a good 50+ minutes giving us a great inside look into the early days of Trek fanzines, convention life, his many writings, his work on Star Trek: Voyager, and a real behind the scenes look into the history of Trek & it’s fandom from TNG on.

We got to know Larry at Vegas Khhaaan! this year and had a fantastic time reminiscing on the show. We’re always amazed & thrilled by the stories he has to offer. As fans, we can truly say that this episode is a deep dive into Trek fandom. Be sure to check out Larry’s website Treklandblog.com as well as his Twitter & Facebook page.

More about Larry from Memory Alpha:

Larry Wayne Nemecek is a noted Star Trek author, editor, archivist, consultant and producer. He is married to onetime script coordinator Janet Nemecek. A native Oklahoman, Nemecek began considering news and communications as a career in high school after being inspired by a teacher in his journalism class. He majored in theater at college with a journalism minor, and began writing about Star Trek because “all the Will Rogers and Sooners football books had been written.” He also cites Stephen Edward Poe’s classic The Making of Star Trek and Bjo Trimble’s Star Trek Concordance as seminal influences in entertainment and genre writing.
