Tuesday Oct 19, 2010
Tuesday Oct 19, 2010
We’re pleased to announce the fourth episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring Chase Masterson & James Kerwin. As you all know, Chase played Leeta on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and is an accomplished singer, feature film producer & actor. Her most recent role is that of the "Jazz Singer" in the film noir science fiction thriller "Yesterday Was a Lie". In this special episode of "Life After Trek", we talk in depth with "Yesterday Was a Lie" writer / director James Kerwin about the new film and then finish out the episode with a insightful discussion with Chase about her time on DS9.
Recently, we posted our review of "Yesterday Was a Lie" and can't recommend the film enough. One caveat though, if you haven't seen the film , skip our review until you've watched "Yesterday" and then come back and check out our take on the film. We'd feel way too guilty if we spoiled any of it for you. See a brief, none-spoiler, synopsis below.
Hoyle a girl with a sharp mind and a weakness for bourbon -- finds herself on the trail of a reclusive genius. But her work takes a series of unforeseen twists as events around her grow increasingly fragmented... disconnected... surreal. With an ethereal lounge singer and her loyal partner as her only allies, Hoyle is plunged into a dark world of intrigue and earth-shattering cosmological secrets. Haunted by an ever-present shadow whom she is destined to face, Hoyle discovers that the most powerful force in the universe -- the power to bend reality, the power to know the truth -- lies within the depths of the human heart.

Life After Trek Podcast Episode 3 Featuring Jeffrey Combs
Wednesday Oct 06, 2010
Wednesday Oct 06, 2010
We’re pleased to announce the third episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring none other than Jeffrey Combs. Many of you know Jeffrey from his many and varied characters on Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, & Voyager. He's one of our absolute favorite actors worthy of his own Trek series, where in our minds, he plays every single character. We had the pleasure of spending time with Jeffrey while he was here in Austin during Fantastic Fest. He and "Re-animator" director Stuart Gordon were in town for showings of many of the films that they have collaborated on over the years. Jeffrey was also here to preform his one man show "Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe". We had the opportunity to catch a showing of "Nevermore" and can truly say that it was a breathtaking experience.
L.A. Weekly had this to say about "Nevermore"; "GO- a gorgeous rendition of a tragic clown whose heart has been cleaved open by loss and regret... beautifully directed by Stuart Gordon" and Metromix reviewed as "... a must see for anyone interested in tales of horror and the supernatural." Set in 1848, Nevermore, written by Dennis Paoli, is loosely based on real events and lets us sit in on one of Poe's recitations that he would've given during one of his many speaking engagements. Through Jeffrey Combs's performance we see the humanity in Poe, as well as his deep capacity for love and a "hint" of madness.
If you would like the opportunity to see "Nevermore", you can catch a showing at Creation Entertainment's "Weekend of Horrors" con coming soon. Check out more information below.

Life After Trek Podcast Episode 2 Featuring Larry Nemecek
Tuesday Sep 28, 2010
Tuesday Sep 28, 2010
We’re pleased to announce the second episode of our podcast called, “Life After Trek” featuring none other than Larry Nemecek. Larry spent a good 50+ minutes giving us a great inside look into the early days of Trek fanzines, convention life, his many writings, his work on Star Trek: Voyager, and a real behind the scenes look into the history of Trek & it's fandom from TNG on.
We got to know Larry at Vegas Khhaaan! this year and had a fantastic time reminiscing on the show. We're always amazed & thrilled by the stories he has to offer. As fans, we can truly say that this episode is a deep dive into Trek fandom. Be sure to check out Larry's website Treklandblog.com as well as his Twitter & Facebook page.
More about Larry from Memory Alpha:
Larry Wayne Nemecek is a noted Star Trek author, editor, archivist, consultant and producer. He is married to onetime script coordinator Janet Nemecek. A native Oklahoman, Nemecek began considering news and communications as a career in high school after being inspired by a teacher in his journalism class. He majored in theater at college with a journalism minor, and began writing about Star Trek because "all the Will Rogers and Sooners football books had been written." He also cites Stephen Edward Poe's classic The Making of Star Trek and Bjo Trimble's Star Trek Concordance as seminal influences in entertainment and genre writing.
